As a child, I loved restrooms.
They provided a small space where I could be alone, undisturbed, and seated comfortably. Restrooms were one of my favorite places.
Even after getting married and having children, restrooms remained my sole personal space, a place where I could relax. I still love them for this reason.
I also enjoy visiting restrooms while I'm out. However, I don't linger and relax in public restrooms. What I really enjoy is admiring the restroom and washbasin interiors.
Let me introduce my favorite restrooms!
Shibuya Hikarie, 4th Floor Restroom
Did you know that Hikarie’s restrooms became quite a topic when the building first opened?
Each floor in the shopping area, from B3 to the 5th floor, has a different concept and unique interior design.
While all the floors are fantastic, if someone asks about my favorite restroom, I would definitely say the 4th floor! The colorful wallpaper and tiled washbasin always lift my spirits!

Since it's in a shopping center, I can only enter when it's vacant. But the day I took photos, I was lucky enough to find it empty, allowing me to wander and choose freely.

No matter how many times I visit, the cheerful interior always makes me want to stop by.
Shibuya eplus LIVING ROOM CAFE&DINING
This café, operated by the ticket sales company [e+], sadly closed its doors in March 2023.

I frequently visited before live performances in Shibuya. The restroom interior was adorable! Ah, the lights, the washbasin—I couldn't help but think, "This was made with our service fees" (personal opinion), and I couldn't resist taking photos.

The color scheme was very stylish.
ROUROU Cafe
Located in an alley off Yokohama Chinatown, this café is a charming spot I visited before a live performance. Both the exterior and interior are delightful! The cakes and meals are delicious, and the restroom is so cute! The color combinations were my absolute favorite, and I ended up taking several photos.

In places like this, where there's only one private stall, no matter how cute it is, you have to be quick if someone is waiting.

Finding Beauty in Orderly Arrangements
Commercial facility washbasins are precisely spaced and arranged in a calculated, symmetrical manner. This is what attracts me.

This symmetry is similar to the structure of a Ferris wheel. It made me realize that I am consistently drawn to the beauty of symmetry. If you share this perspective, you can find beauty in restroom interiors too.
Next time you visit a restroom, take a moment to appreciate the orderly arrangement of the washbasins and enjoy the beauty they offer!
