【Play for Free】Google’s Hidden Game! 'Doodle Champion Island Games' - Part.2

We bring you the second installment of our playthrough of the free browser game 'Doodle Champion Island Games,' available through Google Search.

In addition to pure action, the game surprisingly includes a rhythm game element. Watch as I, the author who is not very adept at keyboard gaming, struggle to master it.

Note: This article is a translation of an article written in Japanese. Therefore, all the languages in the captured images are Japanese. English translation is provided in the caption.

Dazzling Underwater Performance, But No Time to Enjoy the View

Having completed the first event, table tennis, and joined a seasoned team, it's time for a new challenge. This event is quite predictable even without seeing the display.

"Artistic Swimming."/ Rules: Hit the keys to the beat of the music and aim for a high score. / Use the arrow keys to move the beat. / Don't miss the beat.

...And now, it’s time for "Artistic Swimming." Many may know it as synchronized swimming. Just like in the real sport, the objective is to strike poses in sync with the background music.

The event begins with athletes (with a few exceptions) dressed in vivid costumes, showcasing a magnificent performance. Questions arise, like why there’s a mirror ball underwater and why only the turtle on the right is not dressed. Regardless, I press the arrow keys in time with the rhythm.

Truth be told, I’m not very good at rhythm games. There’s a rhythm game component in a mobile game I’ve been playing for about four years, but it’s more of a side feature to enhance the story rather than the main focus. Moreover, playing with the keyboard makes my fingers less agile, leading to frequent mistakes. This event seems much easier to play on a smartphone.

Results / High score 32170

Here’s the result screen when I updated my high score. An animation plays upon clearing the event for the first time, showing the character receiving a scroll, but I’m too clumsy to capture a good screenshot each time. If you’re curious, I recommend trying it out yourself.

Taking in the Sights Alongside the Olympics: Becoming an Errand Runner for Quirky Residents...

In this game, there are places you can enter outside of the Olympic venues. Here, we find a boat docked on the beach in the northwestern part of the map. As you approach, a door-opening motion appears, and pressing the space bar allows entry.

It's really noisy outside. I wonder what they're doing?

Talking to the resident inside, it seems they are unaware that the Olympics are taking place. As I continue listening to the conversation...

I have a favor to ask you, will you hear me?/ YES or NO

They suddenly make a request. You can refuse, but that would reduce the content for this article, so I decided to accept.

Good. There's a locksmith east of Onigashima. Can you give him this letter? Tell him it's from me.

Apparently, they want me to deliver a letter to a locksmith on Onigashima. Given their ignorance of the Olympics, it seems there’s no newspaper or postal system here. It’s quite a culture shock for someone like me who’s used to modern society.

I regret to inform you that today’s delivery service has just ended, so I’ll make the delivery in the next article.

Five Events Left: The Olympics Are Far from Over

In the second installment of the 'Doodle Champion Island Games' playthrough, we experienced a dazzling underwater performance and met some very unique characters. Despite this, we haven’t even completed half of the game yet, so this series will likely continue until the original goal of "defeating the legendary champion" is achieved.
