After the excitement of viewing an exhibition, it's time to head to the museum shop!
Though "Kyuyo Ishikawa complete works : Later Period [Situations]" is a calligraphy exhibition, contrary to expectations of a calm and composed atmosphere, the shop offers surprisingly cute items.
Alright, let's go shopping!
Purchases: The Catalog and T-Shirt are No-Brainers!

The catalog is must. The T-shirt was so cute that I exclaimed, "I'll buy this T-shirt!" while viewing the exhibition. Calm down, please.
The piece titled "The Voice That Falls on the Ground in the Light of the Crying Cicada at Night" is adorable as a work, but as a T-shirt, it’s even cuter. I’ll wear it a lot!
The button badges are all so cute. I think I'll put them on my crossbody bag that I use for walks.
The T-Shirt is Incredibly Cute!

As someone who likes to wear T-shirts from special exhibitions, I was thrilled by their cuteness. The reception and museum shop staff were also wearing them, which helped visualize how they look when worn.

Although available only in size L, the generous width allows for a relaxed fit.
If it feels a bit large, you can tuck it into your bottoms or roll up the sleeves for a neat look. Some staff members were wearing it with rolled-up sleeves, and it looked really cute.
Pop Calligraphy Designs on Button Badges

Three of the four designs feature parts of works by Hekigoto Kawahigashi. They are so cute! They’d look great on an ID case strap, a bag, or a hat.
Guess what the pink button badge says?
It says "Cicada." Written in kanji "蝉"
Isn’t that incredibly cute? It looks like a flower but says "Cicada." It's so adorable that I bought it as a souvenir for my friend who works at a flower shop.
Additionally, on days that include the number 9, there are limited edition button badges available for the first visitors, in honor of Kyuyo’s name.
The Official Catalog is a Must-Buy with Fantastic Content

This is practically an art book. Almost all of the exhibition pieces are included.
Although I visited the later stage of the exhibition, the catalog also includes pieces from the earlier stage, allowing you to appreciate the different concepts of both stages.
True to the name "Kyuyo Ishikawa complete works : Later Period [Situations]," it comprehensively covers Kyuyo’s journey as a calligrapher and calligraphy historian. With 300 selected pieces, this book lets you enjoy them anytime at home. A definite buy. There’s no reason not to purchase it.
Although it's quite thick and heavy, consider it as the weight of the emotional impact of the works. It’s a short trip home anyway.
Various Other Items

The tote bag on the left with "Tannisho No. 18" is stylish and comfortably fits A4 size items. Perfect for carrying purchased goods and books.
"The Voice That Falls on the Ground in the Light of the Crying Cicada at Night" tote bag is also very cute. This work is exceptionally adorable.

Additionally, there were various other items like Wasanbon dried sweets, slide leather mirrors in collaboration with Hobonichi, pin badges, and fragrant sachets.

The mug cup, which I desperately needed in my heightened state, was perfect in its color and the calming atmosphere of "Calm Down."
Lots of Books Too!

Kyuyo, active as both a calligrapher and a calligraphy historian, has authored an impressive number of books.

Popular books often sell out, and some customers purchase and ship art collections containing over 2,000 pieces (costing over 200,000 yen!) overseas. There's a certain charm that attracts people. I get it.
"Kyuyo Ishikawa complete works : Later Period [Situations]" is on View at Ueno Royal Museum Until July 28

The "Ishikawa Kyuyo Taizen" exhibition runs until July 28 at the Ueno Royal Museum. The exhibition content is fantastic, and the museum goods are lovely.
Enjoy the fun of bringing your favorite pieces into your daily life. The T-shirts are incredibly cute!!
