As the summer heats up, it’s peak fireworks season with festivals happening all around. Summer fun often means fireworks, and everyone’s excitement builds around this time of year.
This time, we’ve selected some easy-to-find fireworks from Japan’s biggest fireworks company, Wakamatsuya, available at large retailers. Here’s a real review from elementary school kids and their moms after a fun day of playing with these fireworks.
Party Vibes! "The Ultimate Fireworks Chosen by a Firework Master"

This is a launching firework. Big, bold, and exciting.
It makes crackling sounds, so it’s enjoyable for both your eyes and ears! Super fun!

The boys loved the cool name and were totally hooked.

The green part looks like a dragon’s head — it’s so cool! Shenron vibes!

Massive Impact! "YAOH Final"

This one’s a massive fireworks display — the YAO Final is seriously fun!

It’s an intense launch-type firework that gets everyone hyped up! Great for large groups who want to enjoy the spectacle and scream with excitement.

The kids commented, “It was scary but pretty,” and, “It was loud, but that’s the point!” No wonder they were running around in excitement.

Whoa! Amazing! This really gets you pumped! You wouldn’t think this was a home-use firework with that level of power.
Some moms did say, “This is bad for my heart…” — the intensity of home-use fireworks can be surprising, but that’s what makes it fun, right? Who knew home fireworks could be this spectacular?

See How High It Goes! "4M Height"

This is a domestic fountain firework. Just from the package, it looks like a white fountain that might shoot up 4 meters high. Isn’t that tall?

Because the image on the package set our expectations high, many asked, “Was it really 4 meters?” However, there was a green section that launched, as you can see in the photo! Look!
The green part was so brief that no one noticed it might have reached 4 meters. Looking at the photo, it seems like it did reach that height. If we had realized it sooner, it might have gotten better ratings.

Great Value and Impact! "Japan Blue Fountain"

This one shoots out blue sparks. The blue packaging gives off a familiar vibe — perhaps it’s a samurai-blue?

Though it might look like “Jumping Blue,” the blue sparks are definitely there! The powerful orange sparks may have overshadowed it a bit, though.

Two Reliable Handheld Fireworks

These fireworks offer 20% more content compared to other products in the same price range.
They’re the kind you can open and play with right away, and all the trash is combustible, which earned high marks from the moms. After all, the adults handle the setup and cleanup.
According to Wakamatsuya’s independent exit survey at retail stores, many appreciated comments like, “It looks easy to clean up,” “Seems easy to take out,” and “It’s great that there’s less waste.”

The package says, “Made in Japan, crafted by artisans, extraordinary, masterful,” and since it’s made by an old fireworks workshop, expectations were high for these three varieties.

The way you hold it reveals your personality. People who hold it in both hands.

An honest little person. Let's enjoy each one.

Holding five at once. I appreciate the presence of a careful man who calmly points out, "You'll get caught on fire."

This is very impressive. The sparks are big and beautiful.

The Cleanup Savior: "Fireworks Solidify and Toss!"

This is a solution for extinguishing and disposing of fireworks. Just mix the powder with water in the provided bag, and it serves as a substitute for a water bucket.
You can toss it into the regular burnable trash, so no more dealing with wet firework remnants or bucket water. Honestly, cleanup was such a hassle before — I wish I’d known about this sooner!

Just stick the used fireworks into the gel. The gel is soft, so even small kids can safely and easily extinguish fireworks without worrying about melting or damaging the bucket.
Make Sure to Play in Safe, Open Spaces!
As you can see, both fountain and launching fireworks deliver quite an intense experience, with significant range. We were relieved that we didn’t try this in front of our houses!
Please play in designated areas, such as riversides or parks where fireworks are allowed.
We’re just getting started with the fun, but since this is getting a bit long, let’s continue in Vol. 2. There’s still plenty of exciting fountain and launch fireworks waiting for you!
Stay tuned for more, because the best is yet to come!
"In every spark of light, there’s a moment of joy waiting to be discovered."
