【7,000 Yen】The World in Your Hands: A Trip Around the Globe at Tobu World Square! Vol.2

In the previous installment, I introduced Tobu World Square. Now, it’s time to step into this dazzling treasure chest.

No passport required—let's embark on this unforgettable journey!

Excitement Soars Right at the Entrance

As soon as you pass through the entrance gate, you're greeted by a globe display that rivals the grandeur of DisneySea. Every 20 minutes, animatronic figures emerge, accompanied by music.

It’s a delightful throwback—pure Showa-era nostalgia at its finest!

Starting with Japan’s Iconic Landmarks

Is that the former Prime Minister Koizumi?

The Japan area features major landmarks from the Tokyo region, including the National Diet Building, Tokyo Skytree, Tokyo Station, and the Akasaka Palace.

The American section is packed with famous buildings like the White House and the Twin Towers.

Scattered throughout the park, you'll find signs reading, “Insert 100 yen to see it move!” Ingenious, right?

エジプトエリアでは、緑の木々とのありえない共演。

In the Egypt zone, the surreal juxtaposition of greenery and ancient pyramids adds to the charm.

With the atmospheric weather, you could easily imagine yourself reenacting scenes from The Mummy.

With the atmospheric weather, you could easily imagine yourself reenacting scenes from “Acro no Oka”.

The Intricacy of European Architecture

The meticulous detailing of European buildings is breathtaking. Each one is stunningly crafted.

Though the Paris Olympics have taken the spotlight, traveling to Paris itself is no small feat. But here, it’s only a two-hour trip from Tokyo—how convenient!

A Personal Highlight: The Sagrada Família

One structure I’ve always dreamed of seeing in person is Barcelona’s Sagrada Família (Basilica of the Holy Family).

I’ve been drawn to it since childhood, but haven’t had the chance to visit. Initially expected to remain unfinished in my lifetime, advancements in technology and 3D printing have accelerated construction, with the main tower now slated for completion in 2026!

The Sagrada Família replica at Tobu World Square even includes cranes, showcasing its construction phase. It’s a captivating experience to observe this stage, and I highly recommend visiting here before heading to Barcelona for the real thing.

Asia’s Architectural Grandeur

The Asia zone offers a mix of vibrant colors and robust designs.

India and Nepal dazzle with their intricate, colorful styles, while China and Cambodia showcase more rugged, natural aesthetics. Though the hues may be subdued, these structures exude a powerful presence.

The Delicate Precision of Traditional Japanese Architecture

As someone born and raised in Japan, I admit my bias. But landmarks like Horyu-ji Temple, Byodo-in Phoenix Hall, and Itsukushima Shrine are breathtakingly intricate. The level of detail is astounding—it’s beyond extraordinary. Truly praiseworthy.

A Ferris Wheel, Too?!

A section titled “World Amusement Parks” includes a Ferris wheel on display.

Even in miniature, its presence is commanding. Honestly, at this size, I could see it fitting in my home.

Tempting, isn’t it?

A Whirlwind Journey Around the World

By 12:25, our global adventure had come to an end.

We entered just after 11:00 AM, spending roughly 1.5 hours exploring. While I wish we could’ve taken more time, we saw everything we wanted, balancing our pace with the children’s moods. Mission accomplished!

Smooth Transitions? Not Quite

It was just past noon as we wrapped up our visit.

Next on the itinerary: a trip to Kinugawa Onsen Station for a relaxing soak. But the next local train wouldn’t arrive for another 40 minutes (though limited express options were available).

Unsure what to do, I asked a staff member at the park, who informed me that a bus to Kinugawa Onsen Station would depart at 12:35. The stars aligned for our packed schedule yet again!
