【Under 500 Yen!】Sweating Buckets with a Store-Bought Bath Soak! A Touch of the Middle East with Dead Sea Mud for a Luxurious Bath

Make sure to drink a glass of water before your bath! And don’t forget to hydrate during and after your bath too!

The humid and hot Japanese summer is here.

I’ve always been a heavy sweater, so I can cool down with just a little breeze.

However, with the extreme heat in recent years, everywhere I go—whether it’s on transportation, at home, or at the office—the air conditioning is on full blast. This means I can’t sweat even if I want to, and the heat just gets trapped inside my body.

Plus, with these high temperatures, going outside for a walk or a run to sweat could be life-threatening.

That’s why I turned my attention to sweating bath soaks.

I tried a few store-bought ones and here are my thoughts!

[Relax Sen Germa Bath Black Water]

Look at this darkness.

It looks rugged, almost like lava. It seems like it would really make you sweat.

The back of the package mentions something about the legendary germanium (?). Well, let’s give it a try and toss it in.

The scent and color—could this really be a store-bought product?!

Time to open it up! When I poured it into the water, it spread out like instant coffee, turning the water a deep brown.

This is not a color you usually see in a home bath.

And the scent—sulfur! This could be polarizing. Personally, I thought it was amazing that a store-bought product could smell so authentic, like a real hot spring! I was excited.

However, my younger daughter, who was bathing with me, covered her nose and said, “It smells like eggs...” and quickly got out. I was oddly impressed to learn that even people who have never smelled sulfur before associate it with the smell of (rotten) eggs.

The Sweat Experience

The recommended bath time is 20 minutes.

As a working mom, you can probably relate—I don’t spend much time in the bath every day.

At most, I’ll spend about 20 minutes washing and soaking. But today, I’m just soaking for 20 minutes! I consider this another way to relieve stress.

About 10 minutes in, I started to feel a slow sweat coming on. But since I’ve gotten used to being in an air-conditioned environment all the time, I wasn’t sweating much this summer.

My first attempt at sweating didn’t seem to be going well...

However, around the 13-minute mark, I felt sweat slowly start to trickle from my scalp. Oh, sweat!

Trusting the package instructions, I aimed for 20 minutes...

I had set the bath temperature to a lower 41°C because I wanted to stay in longer, but since I wasn’t used to it, I gave up after 15 minutes!

I didn’t sweat as much as I had hoped, but I think it’s because I’m not used to sweating. I plan to try again for a rematch!
